Chinese Movie Showing

This coming Friday December 10th take a break from your busy schedule to enjoy a Chinese movie with us. From Luo Ye, the director of Suzhou He 苏州河 (sorry I can't remember the English title - great movie!) comes a new film called Purple Butterfly 紫蝴蝶. We will be going to the 7:10 showing. Please let me know if you plan to come. If we have a big group I will go early and purchase tickets in advance. I have posted some pics from the film below. For more info see the following links:

MMA Trip

Here are a few "unlawful" photos from the lecture and exhibit. For those of you who didn't make it, I would suggest that you take the time to check it out. The vast array of cultural influences is amazing. The lecture, though a bit scattered, was also good. I have posted a photo here of Susan Whitfield. China: Dawn of A Golden Age (200-750 AD) Posted by Hello

China Exhibit at MMA

Those of us who are free will be going to the lecture, film and exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art this Sunday. The information is as follows:

The MMA is Located at 82nd Street and Fifth Avenue
The exhibit is entitled:
China: Dawn of a Golden Age, 200–750 AD
It will run from October 12, 2004–January 23, 2005
In the Special Exhibition Galleries, The Tisch Galleries, 2nd floor
We are going on Sunday the 5th of December.

Here is the schedule
2:45 Meet in front of MMA main entrance
Lecture-3:00 People and Trade Along the Silk Road. Susan Whitfield, Director of International Dunhuang Project, British Library.
Film-4:00 China’s Cosmopolitan Age: The Tang (1992), produced by Chung-wen Shih and Peter Montagnon. Describes the flourishing of ideas in government, art, religion, and philosophy that occurred during the Tang dynasty (60 min.).
